In May 2011, our family of four moved to Mannheim, Germany for an unforgettable expat assignment. Living abroad came with its challenges—adjusting to a new culture, language, and way of life—but it also gave us memories to last a lifetime and brought us closer together. Looking back, the only thing that could’ve made it even more meaningful would’ve been having Ava with us, but the Lord blessed us with her after we returned home in April 2013. Prost to the journey!

Matt's going-away party
On May 4th, the John Deere Marketing Department and the Engineers connected with Matt’s PLMT position, attended Matt’s going-away party at Beck’s. The girls attended for the first hour and then Lisa came and picked them up, so that I could talk with some of Matt’s fellow co-workers and not chase them around the restaurant all night (at one point, they were both pretending to be kittens). Again, it was an event that really made our move seem very, very real and in the very near future!
