| Elle being silly and purposefully standing in front of Ruthie:) |
In May 2011, our family of four moved to Mannheim, Germany for an unforgettable expat assignment. Living abroad came with its challenges—adjusting to a new culture, language, and way of life—but it also gave us memories to last a lifetime and brought us closer together. Looking back, the only thing that could’ve made it even more meaningful would’ve been having Ava with us, but the Lord blessed us with her after we returned home in April 2013. Prost to the journey!

SNOW, SNOW, SNOW!!
Finally…SNOW
and not rain!!! The typical German
winter consists of A LOT of rain. And since
I grew up in Iowa and not Seattle, Washington I prefer snow over rain any day
(unless of course we are traveling somewhere or it is April:)!! The girls and I made “Ruthie,” our snowwoman,
played restaurant and ran snow races in the backyard. We may even be able to make Ruthie a friend
tomorrow if/when the snow becomes more wet.
We just hope the snow sticks around for a few days. Again, typically it is gone within hours; so,
at least we were able to play in it for a few hours. We will see what tomorrow brings!
