Mediterranean Vacation: Split, Croatia

 FRIDAY, May 25th
On Friday, we visited Split, Croatia; this was our last Port of our cruise.  The first inhabitant of Split was the Roman emperor Diocletian who started to build the palace around the bay around 293AD.  The cellars of the Diocletian’s Palace exist a well-preserved cult center (the best reserved antique complex of this type).  Split is known to produce some of the best wine and olive oil in the World.  It was a quaint Mediterranean city, unfortunately, we did not have time to sample any wine or bread dipped in olive oil before we had to get back on the ship (though Britta and I cut out of the tour to have some Gelato:).
