In May 2011, our family of four moved to Mannheim, Germany for an unforgettable expat assignment. Living abroad came with its challenges—adjusting to a new culture, language, and way of life—but it also gave us memories to last a lifetime and brought us closer together. Looking back, the only thing that could’ve made it even more meaningful would’ve been having Ava with us, but the Lord blessed us with her after we returned home in April 2013. Prost to the journey!

Week 2 Recap: Home in the USA
Another
busy week and a half…and what fun we have been having!! In this time period, I had a girls’ weekend,
a night out with an old hometown friend AND a sisters’ night out (thanks Papa
Donavon and Nana Becky:). We watched
Papa Donavon catch a fish, enjoyed a visit to Chuckie Cheese with friends, a
playdate with neighborhood friends, a trip to our favorite store Target, lots
of swimming at the local Aquatic Center AND Papa and Nana’s backyard, mowed
with Papa Donavon, saw the new Disney Pixar movie Brave, cooked with Great-Grandma Dettmann, visited Papa Marlyn in the hospital post his knee surgery,
and had another fun visit to Big Papa and Big Nana’s Farm. We could not be enjoying our time in the USA
anymore than we are! Let the good times keep
rolling!! The only problem is, we do
miss Daddy very much! We love you
Daddy and look forward to seeing you in a few weeks:)!
