In May 2011, our family of four moved to Mannheim, Germany for an unforgettable expat assignment. Living abroad came with its challenges—adjusting to a new culture, language, and way of life—but it also gave us memories to last a lifetime and brought us closer together. Looking back, the only thing that could’ve made it even more meaningful would’ve been having Ava with us, but the Lord blessed us with her after we returned home in April 2013. Prost to the journey!

Elle's new wheels:)!!!!
Yesterday, we took Elle on
her first bike ride since purchasing a new European bike for her on
Thursday.Since Elle did so well riding
her John Deere bike in Iowa, we wanted to make sure she had a similar bike to
ride here in Germany (though it definitely does not “run like a Deere” as you
will see in pictures below).Elle did a
great job and often had to wait up for Matt, Britta and I.Though, she did have to slow down when she lost
one of her wheels!! Thankfully, Elle has become a master at performing graceful
dismounts from her bike (when she feels a fall approaching), so there were no skinned
knees!!Though, it did take us awhile to
find the bicycle parts in the grass and field, we eventually made it back home- bike and
all!
