On Sunday, we took a little “mini-vacation” to Omaha with Cousins Hannah, Garrison, Marshall, Aunt Brandy and Aunt TC. Britta stayed at home with Papa Donavon and Nana Becky, so that I could give some individual attention to Elle. It was Elle’s first stay in a hotel. Elle thought it was so neat how the hotel had an indoor waterpark. Even after we had dinner (and had been playing at the waterpark all afternoon), Elle thought we needed to go back to the waterpark for some more fun! The next day, Memorial Day, we visited the zoo. Elle enjoyed looking at the penguins, gorillas and tigers. Then, on the way home, Elle fell asleep before I even got out of the zoo parking lot. It was a big trip for Elle and a lot of fun was had by everyone!
In May 2011, our family of four moved to Mannheim, Germany for an unforgettable expat assignment. Living abroad came with its challenges—adjusting to a new culture, language, and way of life—but it also gave us memories to last a lifetime and brought us closer together. Looking back, the only thing that could’ve made it even more meaningful would’ve been having Ava with us, but the Lord blessed us with her after we returned home in April 2013. Prost to the journey!

While Daddy is in Lisbon…Elle had her first hotel stay & visited the Omaha Zoo
