Today, we officially put our family's "American Wheels" into storage...this way, when we come back to the States for extended visits, I can drive my large American-made, gas guzzling Chevy:)!! I will miss you Tahoe and will look forward to driving you in December! Hello to our new German-made, fuel efficient Volkswagen!! "When in Rome, do as the Romans do!!" This must be our motto throughout our adventure, IF we want to survive this adventure:)!! I have a feeling that MANY of our American ways will not mesh with the German culture (i.e. desiring to drive everywhere and not use public transportation, not owning adult bicycles, eating frozen foods for the majority of our meals, being dependent on central air-conditioning, being poor recyclers...yada yada yada...)...this could get interesting!!In May 2011, our family of four moved to Mannheim, Germany for an unforgettable expat assignment. Living abroad came with its challenges—adjusting to a new culture, language, and way of life—but it also gave us memories to last a lifetime and brought us closer together. Looking back, the only thing that could’ve made it even more meaningful would’ve been having Ava with us, but the Lord blessed us with her after we returned home in April 2013. Prost to the journey!
